Blog #14: The Last Blog Oscar R.
Hello everyone,
I want to start off by apologizing for the late blogs I just posted. I wanted to focus on the class presentations for this blog. For my presentation and my annotated bibliography, I was trying to choose an issue in teaching composition that was very much still present and affected many students and teachers. I decided to try to tackle and address Anti-Black and Anti-Racist Pedagogies. I know that I was not able to fully cover everything about this issue but I tried my best to focus on some of the important aspects of this issue. I was so stressed/nervous because I do not like presenting but I hope I was able to get some points across. I appreciate everyone for the feedback I got!
I also really liked and found it interesting how Iselle's and Evalynna's presentations were able to connect with mine and how they all interconnected and "synched" Iselle talked about code-meshing and about student's insecurities and how it is the educators job to help prevent these insecurities. Evalynna talked about racial literacy and offered different ways that we can teach it and incorporate it. My presentation goal was to talk about the pedagogies that are harmful and how we can get rid of them and offer new ways of teaching. It was so cool that Iselle showcased in a way the harmful ideologies and insecurities through the use of the skit she showed which addressed what I wanted to show. Similarly, Evalynna contributed and showed what I was trying to research which was ways to have Anti-Racist pedagogies which was through literature and she talked about racial literacy and provided examples. It was just fascinating to see that we all contributed such an important issue and I found it interesting how their presentations were able to help me.
Everyone did such an excellent job in their presentations and they were all so informative and important. I really enjoyed Larry's which focuses on writing and healing/therapy and I also loved Bailey's which focuses on fan fiction . It opened my eyes and made me think of fan ficiton under a whole new light and even got me thinking about potentially in the future there can be courses that specifically focus on fan fiction. Overall, everyone did such an incredible job and they were so amazing!! Good luck to everyone and good luck on all of your papers and assignments! You got this! Congrats to those graduating!
