Hello everyone,
This week I found the "Scenarios Responding" reading to be the most informative and interesting. Although, it was very informative it also raised several questions for me. It was interesting to see the various different scenarios that these teachers went through and how they responded or dealt with it. These scenarios ranged from different things from having different takes on essays, to group conferences, differing ideas, to racial and ethics issues.
One specific scenario raised many questions for me. The scenario was the one titled as "Trevor's Journal". I had several questions regarding this situation. The questions that are listed in that section, are the same questions I have as well as a future teacher. I had never thought about the type of students I would face and their opposing beliefs as mine. I had never thought about this scenario and how I would respond to it. I found these questions to be very important especially as someone who has no experience teaching like me. I worry about what I would say, do, or how I would approach this scenario. Is there a right way to do it? Should we involve our own beliefs? To what extent should we involve morals, beliefs, and ethics in writing? What I am trying to say is how should I respond to a student who has such conservative ideas that are harmful and racial? How do we respond to our moral responsibility? Can we accept work like this? Can we change this? How do you deal with these type of students overall? There is a lot to think about and research about this. Overall, I found this section to be interesting and allowed me to truly think and reflect and ask.
