Blog 2 - Kelly Garzon
Hi, Everyone -
This week there were a lot of things I acquired and found interesting when teaching writing.
"Our job is not to produce better writers, but better writing"
Must I just say... WOW. This is so true. Is there a "right" way to write? Who is one to say or critique whether the writing is good or not? Could imagery (as discussed this week) play a factor in determining good writing? The student samples are quite interesting. Especially in regards to providing feedback. Giving helpful feedback to students, even if they receive or apply it to their writing piece.
Another takeaway was the Hemmingway quote, "Draft drunk, revise sober". Whether this be figuratively or literally this is SO TRUE. The less we think about what we should be writing about and kind of just freewrite. The more ideas will flow. This takeaway is something I would definitely plan to share with students and keeping their freewriting and ideas to themselves.
